Chinese New Year is a time of celebration, fireworks and gifts. As it’s based on the lunar year, the date changes every year but always begins on the first day of the new moon and ends 15 days later with the Lantern Festival.

The Chinese calendar follows a 12-year pattern and each year is represented by an animal. According to Chinese folklore, you’ll share the character traits of this animal, depending on the year you were born.
