Give yourself a time out
A naughty child is transformed after a little nap. This works for adults as well, give yourself five minutes of just sitting chilling, or have a little nap if you have the time. Stretch out, and then carry on with your day feeling less stressed and more in control.

Have a little daydream
There is nothing wrong with daydreaming, providing that you’re not in the middle of something like the ironing. Take five minutes to imagine you’re on a beach, and you will immediately feel less stressed.

Do a face mask
Either shop bought or a DIY, a face-mask will make you feel brighter and happier. Honey makes and amazing DIY face-mask, simply smother over your skin (not near your eyes) and wait for ten minutes while it starts to dry. Rinse off with warm water. Honey is a natural antibiotic and moisturiser, perfect for your skin.

Have a bubble bath
Bubble baths are the best way to alleviate stress. Adding a cup of sea salt to your bath is great for drawing out impurities in the skin.

Change your nightcap
Having a glass of wine before bed can actually hinder your ability to sleep rather than help it. To wake up rejuvenated, try a glass of milk, hot chocolate or simply water before bed. Green tea is a great nightcap, and is generally really good for you anyway.

Lavender
Lavender is a great de-stressor. The scent is instantly relaxing, and is really good for people that struggle to nod off at night. Use a lavender air-spray or lavender ironing water when ironing your bed sheets and pyjamas. Nothing is better for you than a good night’s sleep.

Deep breathssmiling woman
I know it sounds like a cliche, but counting to 10 and taking deep breaths when you feel yourself getting stressed is a great way to de-stress. If you give yourself a few seconds to re-evaluate and gain perspective on the situation, you will feel less stressed.

Be positive
Counting your blessings, reading a good book or watching a clip of a cat doing something funny on Youtube will lift your mood, and make you feel less grumpy.

Smile
Smiling makes us feel happier, even when we don’t want to. There really is something in the phrase “grin and bear it”.

Have a good stretch
Stretch out as far as you can then sit with a straight back. Stretching releases endorphins, which means an immediate mood-boost. If you can’t stand up and stretch, even stretching out your hands will give you some kind of a boost. This will immediately make you feel brighter and more able to manage things.
