Eid Mubarak (Eed-Mu-ba-rack)!

Eid al-Fitr (Eed-al-Fitter) is an Arabic term, meaning the ‘festival of breaking’ – in reference to breaking the fast. It takes place right after the month of Ramadan, when Muslims reflect on their own lives and the lives of others, which embraces among other things, spiritual devotion and acts of kindness in the community.  Approximately 2 billion Muslims across the globe observe Eid-al-Fitr, all having different customs of their own.

The festival has been celebrated since the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  It’s a joyous occasion, emphasising compassion, generosity and moral standing. Muslims usually celebrate Eid al-Fitr by starting the day with prayers. A big meal is the main event, often spent in the company of loved ones. Lots of families choose to exchange gifts, visit friends and family and hug in the street. The whole idea is to create a sense of good will.

This year, Eid al-Fitr is expected to take place on Friday 21st April. However, this is subject to change as the Islamic calendar is aligned with the lunar cycle.

Even if we do not celebrate Eid al-Fitr ourselves, we may know people who do. So, we’ve put together a list of gift ideas for Eid. For example, you may want to create a halal gift box to contribute to someone’s celebratory feast, or why not look into a Love2shop e-Gift Card? The options are endless, so your friends at Park have curated the best gift ideas for Eid to help.

Everyone at Park HQ hope your Eid is filled with joy and laughter! May Allah bless each and everyone one of us with all the beauty and blessings at this special time of year.
