There’s no way to avoid the increasing price of seemingly everything and the uncertainty of it all can be alarming. But by sharing our money saving thoughts and ideas, we can help each other find a way to overcome these seemingly immense challenges. How we’re helping our customers

The cost of living crisis has forced everyone to adapt and change their habits. Here at Park, we've supported our customers through this financial situation as we deeply understand the impact the last 12 months has had on them. From rising costs to the after-effects of COVID-19, few could have predicted such an unprecedented chain of events.

Park strives to make things as stress-free as possible for our customers. We completely understand how circumstances can change, that’s why planning for Christmas is so important – find out how you can protect and prepare for the big day whatever life throws at you here. To help, we’ve changed how we communicate with our customers:

John – Customer Care Advisor

"Working directly with our savers during the cost of living crisis underlines how important it is to continue to offer a supportive and compassionate service. Our customers love saving with us, so it’s vital we look after them – after all, they trust us. We need to be dynamic as possible and exhaust all options to help everyone save in a manageable way. It’s been a challenging year, but helping people meet their goals and enabling them to deliver an amazing Christmas makes it all worth it."

Norma - Customer Care Advisor

"I can see how the economy is having an impact on Park Christmas Savers, with customers calling to amend their orders due to financial difficulties. We work with our savers through the year to give them the option of reducing their orders to a more affordable level, meaning they’ll still have something put aside for Christmas, no matter their budget.”

How it’s affected us

See what some of the Marketing team had to say when asked what the cost of living crisis means to them:

  • "At the moment, it means ongoing uncertainty about how far money will stretch each month and what I can and can’t afford. Not knowing how much your bills are going to rise is worrying, there’s also added pressure to keep filling the car each week and finding money for the weekly shopping bill.” - Caroline

  • "It means worrying a lot more about money. Everything seems to be getting more expensive and it leaves me wondering when exactly things will let up. I’ve always been a good saver, but I’m starting to wonder what my savings will get me in the long run. The cost of living crisis has me thinking about my future – like if I’ll ever be able to retire and enjoy myself after spending most of my life working." – Niamh

  • "The cost of living crisis means the fear of the unknown. Not knowing how much money is going to be left once the bills have been paid, not knowing how much those bills will be as Direct Debits seem to fluctuate monthly, as does the cost of the food shop each week. This all makes it very difficult to plan ahead." - Amy

  • "Cost of living to me means the worry of covering the essentials to go about your daily life. The day-to-day cost of bills, food and travel have all gone up in cost meaning the money we have now covers less than it did." - Alex

We can do it together

When we asked colleagues how they’re navigating the current financial crisis, here’s what they had to say:

  • "Just before lockdown, we bought a new house for our family. Like everyone else, you make sure its within budget and buy within your means. There was a baby on the way and we knew costs would go up by moving, but our energy bills have gone from under £200 to just over £600 on the next increase in October so we are having to watch our spending to make sure we can keep the house warm." - Pete

  • "I’ve reviewed my monthly expenses and have cancelled or renegotiated bills where possible, such as my phone and broadband contracts and some TV subscriptions. I’ll miss Disney+ and Amazon Prime, but I signed up to so many options during lockdown that it was time for a review." - Andrea

  • Just thinking twice on every spend – be it checking for cheaper alternatives in the supermarkets or shopping around online for good deals on essentials, such as new school clothes for the kids. Now, more than ever, being savvy with your money is not a luxury or a side hobby or something you do now and again, it is an absolute must to make sure your money goes as far as it possibly can. - Seb

  • "Hybrid working has become more important than ever. On the days I am in the office I am lucky enough to get a lift so we can share the travel cost. Without that it would be even harder to get by." - Neil
